Artist Info

Kathy Sturgeon has been an Artist her whole life!  She started creating with her body and now with her hands.  She became a principal Ballet dancer with Balled Fiesta, Oregon Ballet Theater (OBT) and First Chamber Dance Company. After many years as a Ballerina she knew it was time to move on.

Her next challenge came as a Welder in the US Navy, were working with metal peaked her interests.

She started an exploration of creating beauty with her heart and hands. Studying Gem Faceting under a master eye of Glenn Linker progress came, with a continuing education from the Columbia Willamette Faceters’ Guild. She now cuts custom designed Gemstones.

Continuing research lead to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, Inspiration took hold and she began to create. Her beautiful designs are inspired from the beauty of her life, a native of Portland the outdoors has been a long source of inspiration.  Some people learn to be artists and some are born to it!
